Braintree is a town in Orange County, in the "Woodstock-Quechee" region, and includes the places Braintree Center, Braintree Hill, East Braintree, West Braintree, Peth and Snowsville. The town was named for the hometown of many of the grantees: Braintree, Massachusetts.
A notable person from the area is Jefferson P. Kidder, a lawyer, jurist, and 17th Lieutenant Governor of Vermont.
