Robert Reich follows up his acclaimed hit film The Last Class, which documented his last inspiring final lecture at UC Berkeley, with a timely and poignant snapshot of a sharply divided America.

A team of filmmakers, inspired by former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, decided to invite 30 and 80-year-olds to gather in conversation about the country. The Work in Progress invites strangers from across generations and geographies to engage in candid discussions about America’s ever-evolving democracy, identity, and definitions of community, and where the heck we go from here. Their idea is to visit six states in six months, convening a wide variety of Americans to play a simple game: Ask each other questions, and take the time to listen.

What emerges in The Work in Progress is an unusual and provocative glimpse of America in its 250th year, and an invitation to all Americans to pull up a chair, invite a stranger, and lend an ear.
