Join Los Angeles-based artist, Aaron Curry (b. 1972) in conversation about his sculpture, "Danny Skullface Sky Boat (Reclining)" (2009), newly installed on our grounds. Curry describes his work as collage-based and significantly influenced by elements in popular culture, including his background in music, science fiction and comic books. As a teenager, Curry was attracted to the design of guitars, record albums, action figures and skateboards displaying colors and forms inspired by 20th century sculpture and modernism. References to the sculptures of Alexander Calder abound in his work, including curvy biomorphic shapes and vibrant palettes. Each ticket grants admission to our galleries from 2:30pm for self-guided visitation of our exhibitions, and to the talk starting at 4pm. Galleries close at 4pm. Space is limited and registration is required.
