Fall foliage is at it's peak here in southern Vermont! This week we took the drone down to the golf course and we were one again pleasantly surprised. The views of the Green Mountains here on the hill at the Manchester View are vibrant with color! While leaves are still turning on the trees below the mountain range, they are at peak on top. This is a wonderful leaf-peeping season with beautiful weather - pleasant sunny days and crisp cool evenings.

This time of year is perfect for visiting a local farmers' market for local produce, baked goods and crafted products. The Manchester Farmers' Market has moved to its new location on Routes 11/30 and takes place Thursdays from 3-9. In Dorset, the market is at HN Williams on Route 30 on Fridays from 10-2.

The view from the Hogback Mountain Scenic Overlook in Marlboro is amazing right now and should continue to be through the weekend! Vibrant orange, red and yellow leaves are everywhere you look. With a 100-mile view from the overlook, that's a lot of leaves to look at! Enjoy a cocktail from the Vermont Distillers deck and take in the sights of Peak Foliage.

Hiking trails to the fire tower at Molly Stark State Park are accessible from the distillery parking lot. Explore the abandoned Hogback Mountain Ski Area with easy and difficulty hiking trails.

Live music at the distillery with "Case of Bud" on Saturday 10/5/24 starting at 4pm.

For food - grab a burger or wrap from Wahoos in Wilmington or pizza from Beer Naked Brewery / Pizzapalooza on Hogback Mountain.

Other scenic destinations in the area include the Harriman Reservoir and Mount Snow Resort (scenic chairlift rides)

It's getting real colorful out there, that's for sure. Peak foliage is right around the corner and you do not want to miss it. Come up this weekend to see for yourself!

The Stratton Village is bustling on the weekends with tasty food options and a number of shops. Grab breakfast at Benedict's, hop on the Gondola to check out the foliage, then partake in some retail therapy to round out your day.

Autumn in Southern Vermont is coming alive with color, as the "burning bush" shows! Red is the hue of the day, while oranges and yellows are appearing, too. Speckled and sprinkled color creates life on the Green Mountain peaks.

Many varieties of crisp apples are for the picking at Mad Tom Orchard. Visit before the season ends!

This is the time of year to enjoy dining au plein air. The patio at Seasons is especially lovely with its lush landscape. Outdoor dining is also offered at Raven's Den and Crooked Ram, among others. Try the Sugar Shack in Arlington and Maple Reserve in Manchester Center for all things maple.

Howdy, leaf peepers. This week we decided to head over to the Sun Bowl Base Area to see what the foliage was looking like on that side of the mountain and we were pleasantly surprised. Vibrant fall colors are filling in nicely and it's only getting better from here. Stay tuned!

A number of the maples are starting to show patches of bright orange, with some red and yellow. Ash and hickory are also starting to show color. The migrating geese and flocks of turkeys are adding to the feeling of Fall in the air!

Chester's Festival on the Green is this Saturday and Sunday! It's a great community event with lots of vendors, food trucks, agricultural displays and herding demos.

Check out Farm at Williams River House for a beautifully appointed farm bnb stay, with farm to table breakfast included each morning.

The trees are beginning to show their fall colors here at southern Vermont's highest peak! Come and check them out on a Scenic Gondola Ride which are available Friday-Sunday from 10AM-4PM.

Foliage seems to be starting earlier this year. While still predominantly green, there can be found pockets of brilliant oranges as well as yellow. My best guess is that we'll experience an earlier than usual peak to the foliage season this year here in Southern Vermont - perhaps even before the end of the month!

Be sure to check out Harvestfest Weekend scheduled for Oct. 10-14th at Stratton Mountain Resort. Scenic gondola rides, live music, great food - they've got it all!

One of our favorite spots year-round for a great burger or sandwich is Honey Pie! Located at the junction of Rt. 100 & 30 in Rawsonville, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Also be sure to swing by H.N. Williams in Dorset for a true Vermont country store experience.

Our higher elevation tends to reach peak color before valley regions. Our mountain top is bursting with golden yellows and oranges. I would expect full color in the next week.

The Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival exudes quintessential Vermont. There you will find shepherds and fiber farmers from across the state with an amazing assortment of heirloom hand work, wool yarn, and sheep! Just one town over from Washington, the festival takes over the Tunbridge Fair Grounds. The setting could not be more perfect for this must see event on October 5-6.

It's always a pleasure to visit and drive through Quechee and Woodstock, but going during Fall Foliage is an extra special treat. It was a picture-perfect bluebird day and there are pops of color and foliage to be found throughout both towns. The best is definitely yet to come, as I would estimate the foliage to be only 20-25% peaked.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the 50th Annual Woodstock Apples and Crafts Fair and food truck festival on October 12th and 13th. Find over 100 vendors and the best foliage-themed food and drink around!

There are multiple covered bridges in the Quechee/Woodstock area that are perfect for some foliage Instagraming. If you park at the covered bridge in Quechee, be sure to take the quick walk over to Simon Pearce Flagship Store and Restaurant.

Some maple trees are already bright orange at their tops and some are even red. On a bluebird day like today foliage is already showing its promise of brilliance to come! The photo shows the front of the B&B with the tops of our huge maple trees glowing orange.
