The "Heart of Vermont" is embodied in the Rutland-Killington Region. In fact, this region provides a wealth of shopping, entertainment and dining. The Rutland-Killington area is where you can enjoy any season to its fullest!
Nestled in Vermont's Green Mountains, Rutland rests in a wide valley between the Green Mountain range and the Taconics. Nearby mountains and lakes bring thousands of people here to ski, hike, swim and enjoy the autumn foliage. Killington, Pico, and Okemo offer some of the finest skiing in the Northeast, within minutes of downtown Rutland. The terrain on Killington Mountain doubles as a great area for mountain biking and hiking when the snows have melted. For more hiking, enjoy the famous Appalachian and Long Trails that transverse the mountains of the Killington and Rutland area. Snowmobile and cross-country ski trails dot the landscape for other winter activities.
Rutland's downtown has recently revitalized into an eclectic mix of the old and the new. The area is rich in natural beauty and a wonderful history while in close proximity to great shopping and dining. The Ethan Allen Express brings tens of thousands of skiers, cyclists, and others from New York City's Penn Station directly into Downtown Rutland each year.
