Peasant offers a familial charm and cozy atmosphere. The setting is "Manhattan meets Tuscany" — with an eclectic assortment of artwork hung on walls painted rich deep red or warm gray flannel. The restaurant is owned and run by husband and wife Chris and Mary Ellen Alberti. The waitstaff is friendly, informative and attentive.
Peasant serves hearty dishes with European countryside influences. All ingredients are mindfully sourced using local/regional and organic wherever possible. The menu changes seasonally, except for a few frequently requested favorites and mainstays. All desserts are house-made and include Peasant's Prunes by Chris, prunes poached in red wine, cinnamon and sugar served warm over mascarpone.
Peasant's wine list has been thoughtfully curated by Chris—who has had a long time passion for wine. his intention is to create a collection of wines that represent classic appellations (primarily from France and Italy) that pair perfectly with our rustic European food. We stock locally produced liquors including spirits from the Mad River Distillery and Caledonia Spirits' Barr Hill Gin and Vodka. Classic European, American and local brews comprise the beer list.
