Vermont.com Guide to

Waltham

We Are
Vermont.

Waltham is a town in Addison County, of the Middlebury-Vergennes region.

In 1791 about three square miles were taken from New Haven and given to Vergennes, however that was an unpopular decision, so in 1796 the extra acreage was taken away from Vergennes and incorporated into a separate town. When the residents held their first town meeting, they elected Phineas Brown moderator, and he suggested that the town should be named for his hometown of Waltham, Massachusetts.
