Wallingford is a town in Rutland County, of the Rutland-Killington region, and contains the villages of East Wallingford and South Wallingford.

The town is named for Wallingford, Connecticut, which was the home town of Eliakim Hall, the first named grantee.

Some notable people from the area include: Paul P. Harris, a lawyer & founder of Rotary International; and Matthew Lyon, a printer, soldier, & congressman for both Vermont & Kentucky.
