Stockbridge is a town in Windsor County, of the Woodstock-Quechee region, and includes the vilage of Gaysville. The town was named for Stockbridge, Massachusetts, where most of the town's grantees were from.
Stockbridge was one of thirteen Vermont towns isolated by flooding caused by Hurricane Irene in 2011.
A notable person from the area was Orestes Brownson, an intellectual, preacher and labor organizer.
