Monkton

We Are
Vermont.

Monkton is a town in Addison County, of the Middlebury-Vergennes region. Chartered in 1762, the town was probbaly named for General Robert Monckton, well thought of by his contemporaries and appointed as Royal Governor of New York in 1761.

Most present-day maps show the town's main village as Monkton Boro, although the postal name is just Monkton. Overlooking Cedar Lake in the northern part of town is the village of Monkton Ridge.
