Vermont.

Fairfield is a town in Franklin County, of the Islands & Farms region. The town was named for Fairfield, Connecticut, the home town of Samuel Hungerford, and some of the other grantees. Samuel was listed first in the grant.

Some notable people from the area include: Chester A. Arthur, 21st President of the United States; Bradley Barlow, a congressman; John Fitzpatrick, a mayor of New Orleans; and Charles Shattuck Hill, an editor.
