Some notable people from the area include: Solomon Foot, a Vermont lawyer, member of the United States House of Representatives & a U.S. Senator; Abram W. Foote, Lieutenant Governor of Vermont from 1921 to 1923; and Enoch Cobb Wines, a Congregational minister & and prison reform advocate.
