Benson is a town in Rutland County. The town is rural, with a concentration of several homes and businesses in Benson Village, at the intersection of Stage Road and Lake Road.
Some notable people from the area include: John Belding, an early Mormon convert & one of twelve "Elders" who founded Salt Lake City; Jerametrius Butler, a former NFL cornerback for the St Louis Rams & Buffalo Bills; Stephen Wallace Dorsey, a senator from Arkansas; and Rufus Wilmot Griswold, an anthologist, editor & critic, famous for his enmity with Edgar Allan Poe.
