Alburgh

We Are
Vermont.

Alburg Vermont is a town in Grand Isle County, in the "Islands & Farms" region, located in the northwestern corner of Vermont.

The town was founded in 1781 by Ira Allen, one of the founders of Vermont & leaders of the Green Mountain Boys, and Ethan Allen's brother. Allen designed the Great Seal of Vermont, and the seal of the University of Vermont. He was called the "Matternich of Vermont" and "Father of the University of Vermont."

Alburg is the only land route (via bridge) between New York and Vermont, north of the Crown Point Bridge in Addison. Other towns of the county are islands in Lake Champlain, but Alburg is located on a peninsula projecting from the Canadian border. There is a considerably high percentage of lakeshore property in Alburg, making it a popular place for summer camps and homes.
