Winston Prouty’s Farm to School team is hosting a Spring Work Day to get our garden ready for the growing season.
Join us anytime between 9am – 12pm on Saturday, April 26th, 2025. Free snacks and lunch for volunteers.
All levels of experience and interest in gardening welcome – if you have never tended an edible garden before, come learn the basics of what a garden needs in the spring!
We need helping hands to:
* clear dead plants from last year
* freshen up muddy paths with mulch
* transplant seedlings, and
* direct sow spring seeds
A new project this year is to build a trellis arch for children to play in, covered with bean and squash vines.
Our Farm to School team is a group of Prouty staff, passionate about children’s connection to growing their own food.
We believe that hands-on food, farm, and nutrition education is fundamental to developing meaningful connections to our food and is essential to supporting the success of children and families.
The children who attend the Winston Prouty ELC love helping Nora with the plants and getting a chance to taste them. While the children have an important role to play in caring for our garden, bigger projects like these require more hands. We would love to expand the circle of garden care to include you.
Come help us make our garden beautiful and bountiful!
