Social Band presents its fall offering of choral music with premieres of two newly commissioned works by Sara Doncaster and Saigelyn Green. We’ll also feature songs from Social Band’s deep bench of “in-house” composers: a new piece co-composed by Mark Pendergrast and Bruce Chalmer and a few favorites by Don Jamison. Interwoven with these will be a selection of recently composed pieces in the shape-note tradition featured in the newly published 2025 edition of The Sacred Harp that reflect the vitality of shape-note singing as a living musical tradition. Join us as Social Band presents our signature mix of enlivening choral music, a bracing dose of poetry, robust harmony, and singing camaraderie! Suggested donation $20.
