Mad River Valley Arts welcomes David Goodman and Porter Fox for a public conversation about ‘winter’ at the ZERO CELSIUS Exhibition in Waitsfield, VT — January 17, 2026 | 5:30–7:00 PM
David Goodman—award-winning journalist and host of The Vermont Conversation, known for his reporting on climate impacts and natural disasters—will join Porter Fox, acclaimed author of The Last Winter and a leading voice on the future of snow. Together, they will engage in a timely and thought-provoking dialogue focused on “winter.” Their conversation will explore how shifting winter conditions reflect broader climate realities, shape cultural memory, and influence our evolving relationship with the environment.
ZERO CELSIUS brings together artists whose work probes the textures, tensions, and transformations of winter. The exhibition features artworks that reflect lived experiences of the cold season—and how those experiences shape, and are reshaped by, human and environmental relationships. Audiences are invited to reflect, listen, and participate in an exchange that feels both urgent and deeply grounded in place.
The public is warmly invited to gather, connect, and engage in this prescient dialogue on climate, winter, and change.
