Vermont.com Guide to

Rochester

We Are
Vermont.

Rochester is a town in Windsor County, of the Woodstock-Quechee region, and home to the Quarry Hill Creative Center, Vermont's oldest alternative living community.

Nestled in a remote area of the Green Mountains, Rochester has the largest amount of land in Windsor County, with over 36,000 acres. A plethora of hiking and biking trails, along with its proximity to several ski mountains, make this town a mecca for outdoor activities.

Rochester was one of thirteen Vermont towns isolated by flooding caused by Hurricane Irene in 2011.

Some notable people of the area include: William Wildman Campbell, a congressman from Ohio; Jeremiah Ingalls, an early American composer; and James Whitcomb, a senator & governor of Indiana.
