Vermont.com Guide to

Tinmouth

We Are
Vermont.

Tinmouth is a town in Rutland County, of the Rutland-Killington region. This is the only place in the world with exactly this name. It is thought to have come from one of two English towns: Tynemouth in Northumberland or Teignmouth in Devonshire, both of which are pronounced "Tinmuth" as is this Vermont town.

Some notable people from the area included: Nathaniel Chipman, a senator & Chief Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court; John Mattocks, 16th governor of Vermont; Tom Peters, a writer on business management practices; and Stephen Royce, 23rd governor of Vermont.
