Richford is a town in Franklin County, in the Islands & Farms region of northern Vermont and is the birthplace of R.G. LeTourneau, an American industrialist who founded LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas.
Richford was one of several towns granted by the Republic of Vermont as a way to raise money to support their troops. There is no other Richford in England or New England that this town could have been named for, therefor it is assumed to be a "made" name, probably to attract prospective buyers and settlers to the area.
