No Lift Service Monday to Thursday This Week - Lift service resumes Friday, Dec 1 to Sunday, Dec 3 9am to 4pm

Wednesday: Holy canoli, it. just. won't. stop. With the winds pushing it around a bit, we're going with another 6-10" (base to summit) as of this early morning report in the last 24 hours which brings us to over two feet at the summit since Sunday night!!!!

This week has been just kind of ridiculous at this point with the 12-15" that we woke up to on Monday morning as well. Well, we have our work cut out for us here obviously. If you need us, we'll be shoveling and blowing snow across the resort and doing our best to expand terrain as best we can for lift service this Friday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm. Stay tuned for more details as we're able to share, but should have a good beat on it by tomorrow mid afternoon if not sooner. Appreciate your patience. Rest assured, we're super excited, too!

No lift service today, but we've gone ahead and opened the Wilderness Designated Uphill Route is OPEN and it. will. be. good. up there today!

Friendly reminders regarding uphill:
Intermediate to advanced skiers and riders only. It's early season. Please beware of thin cover and unmarked hazards. Use good judgement and stay within yoru limits.
- You must have a valid ticket or pass. Buy NBU (Nordic/backcountry/uphill) Tickets HERE. Midweek NBU tickets are just $20.
Or perhaps now's a good time to scoop up a NBU Pass? Options: NBU Midweek: $199 + tax. NBU unrestricted: $299 + tax. NBU + Night Pass (includings night skiing/riding via lift service from 4-10pm Tue to Sat) Shop NBU Season Passes HERE

- No uphill EVER permitted to top of Vista Peak. Please stay on designated uphill route (Old Turnpike to Peggy Dow's starting by Wilderness lift shack) ONLY
- Sorry, no dogs!
- No snowshoes or boot packing permitted on the designated uphill route, but are in some areas of our Nordic/backcountry terrain, per our Uphill Policy, Maps, Trails & Conditions Page HERE

This snow plus tomorrow's return of colder temps have our Mountain Operations (and snowmaking) team doing the happy dance as we look to expand terrain heading into next weekend's lift service, which will be Friday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm. Stay tuned later in the week to see what we have for you, but as of now, our plan is to continue to focus on terrain from mid mountain down with the goal of adding Snowflake Lift, Hide Away Progression (Terrain) Park and 3-5x the trails of opening weekend! Stay tuned right here and we'll keep you posted on progress as the week unfolds.

Lift tickets for this coming weekend currently start from just $39 and ALL SEASON PASS TYPES valid for all hours/days of lift service during the early season lift operations schedule (through Sunday, December 17). Regular season lift schedule (with night skiing & riding under LED lights 5 nights/week until 10pm) begins Monday, December 18.

We picked up another 4-5 inches of snow yesterday, bringing our season total up to a full foot. The new snow is certainly helping our base depth and may help us open new terrain faster than expected.

Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed some turns with us on opening weekend! Operations are now suspended Monday-Friday, as we give our snowmakers time to get more snow coverage on Corkscrew, Spring Trail, Twister, Lower Boulevard, and the Learning Zone. The plan is to have these trails open by Saturday, 12/2 when operations resume.

Reminders:

Midweek passes are valid every weekend until the mountain begins daily operations!

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 30 AT 11:15 AM

Preliminary Report (11:15a)

Thanks to an accumulation of nearly 50" of fresh snow this past week, we are planning for an abudance of trail and lift openings this weekend and into the season beyond. In addition to The Jet, Taxi, and Stateside Carpet lifts (which will all open this Friday and remain open for the season), we plan to run the Metro Lift on Saturday and Sunday for a Tramside Connection, and we'll have the Tramside cafeteria open as well.

Remember that we are closed today, Thursday, November 30th and will open back up tomorrow, Friday, December 1st for the remainder of the season. Temps are rising slightly throughout today, keeping us in the high 20's, but look as though they will drop again tonight, which should allow our snowmakers to continue to hammer the Haynes into Saturday. After this, the goal is to start in on our Bonnie route and get the Bonnaventure Quad in tip top shape for you all in the near future.

Our groomers have been out track packing all of the lower mountain trails and we plan to open several new ones this weekend including Deer Run, Bushwacker, Harmony Lane, Subway, Interstate, Moonwalk, Perry Merrill, Queens Highway, Boulevard, Rabbit, Lower CanAm and Kangaroo. We will also have some features set up in our Shakedown Park on Chalet Meadows. As always, Trail openings are subject to weather, but we have big plans for this weekend to open as much terrain as possible.

This weekend, Saturday December 2nd, marks the beginning of our very first WinterShine, a Festival of Lights and Community. Start your season and set the mood against the welcoming backdrop of thousands of warm shining lights, fireworks, fireside s’mores, ice sculptures, live holiday music, specialty meals, and more. Heavily discounted lodging packages and more event information are available HERE. Book soon, discounts end today.

We can't wait to see you all here tomorrow to enjoy the gifts bestowed upon us from the Jay Cloud this week. Check back here early tomorrow morning for the latest updates before you head up.

Mission Affordable:  Get your hands on a fully transferable 4-pack of 1-day lift ticket with no blackout dates, for around $80 a ticket. Use them all for yourself or share them with your friends and family. Purchases must be made online, read more about it HERE.

Updated Safety Notes: We plan to open both of our designated Uphill Routes tomorrow, Friday December 1st. You uphillers will be able to enjoy both our Northway and Ullr's trails. Have fun out there, but please leave your dogs somewhere safe and sound (like, home, for example) while you head up. Important piece to note in our policy, Uphill Travel is only recommended during operating hours. The last thing our grooming staff needs to worry about is seeing you through a cloud of snow, ice, trees, and such. It's their hill at night and in the early morning hours. Please be respectful and stay off of it during their time. Check out our Uphill Travel Update before you head up.

SNOW REPORTER'S UPDATE

November 27, 2023 - 05:45 am

What an amazing weekend Beast Fans! We hope you all had a great time at the 2023 Stifel Killington Cup. We saw over 7" last night, so you're going to want to get here early this morning to take advantage of the fresh snow. The precipitation started off wet and it's going to warm up above freezing today, meaning the new snow may be heavy, but we'll take it. Our groomers were out grooming most trails across all our open terrain, so conditions will be nice, smooth and soft for the first few laps. We have been expanding our open terrain with the recent opening of the Snowdon Six, and we look to make more snow once temps fall below freezing over the next couple of days. We can’t wait for an awesome week of skiing and riding, and hope to see you out there!

Reminder: Early season conditions may be variable.

Be aware, our open terrain is suitable for advanced and intermediate skiers and riders only.

Thursday, November 30 at 4:15 PM

Today was another phenomenal day on the slopes and the Mount Mansfield Ski Patrol continued to open new terrain.  We saw S-53 open to Starr and Lookout, along with Hayride and Maiden Lane.  The snow conditions remain excellent and it’s been a lot of fun exploring so much terrain this early in the season.

Tomorrow we will expand our operations once again with a 10am opening of the Meadows Quad on Spruce Peak.  This will give beginners access to some of the best learning terrain at Stowe on Catwalk to Easy Street.  Over on Mansfield, terrain expansion will include grooming out recent snowmaking and opening T-Line, Lower T-Line, and Lower Liftline.

Tomorrow’s National Weather Service forecast for Mt. Mansfield calls for thickening clouds throughout the day, with a chance of a late day rain or snow shower (elevation dependent).  It will once again be a little warmer tomorrow with high temperatures ranging from near 30 degrees at the summit to the upper 30s in the base area.

Summit level winds may be gusty out of the southwest at 25 - 40 miles per hour tomorrow, though usually winds of those speeds do not affect our lift operations.  In the event of any higher wind gusts, stay tuned to stowe.com/alerts or to the My Epic App for the most up to date operational information all season long.

5 uphill lifts are scheduled for tomorrow, along with the Over Easy Transfer Gondola. First chair is slated to load on the FourRunner Quad and Sunrise Lift at 8 AM.  Please note that skiing and riding off the FourRunner Quad is for intermediate and expert ability levels only.

We are projecting 48 open trails tomorrow, totaling nearly 230 acres of top to bottom skiing and riding on Vermont’s highest peak.  Our base depths range from 15-30 inches with packed powder conditions expected.

The fabled Mount Mansfield summit stake is reading 28 inches of natural depth.

Our grooming team plans to lay down fresh corduroy on 23 trails overnight, giving us nearly 9 miles of smooth terrain to carve up in the morning.  Freestyle enthusiasts, be sure to check out the Midway Hike Park in the Gondola Base Area, offering 3 fun features curated by our Stowe Parks team.

Our snowmakers are taking a well-deserved break right now due to the marginal temperatures.  Looking at the forecast, it may take until early next week for more favorable temperatures to return.  The snowmaking focus for next week is expected to include terrain off of the Gondola and Sunny Spruce Quad.

DAILY MESSAGE

11/27 2:50PM, Always a good day on the slopes when new snow has fallen. We dropped ropes on Black Bear and Old Number 8 this morning and plan to drop a couple more tomorrow on Runaway and Yodeler Express. Snowmaking will return tonight on a number of trails with plans to increase our acreage here over the span of the next week. 4 lifts are scheduled to spin at 9AM - delays are possible due to winds.

*Please note that the only current novice skiing and riding is off of the Cub Carpet. If you consider yourself to be a novice skier or rider, please do not take the Summit Gondola or American Express as there are only Black Diamond and Blue Square rated trails off of Mid-Mountain and the Summit. Thank you for your cooperation.* It’s still early season but it’s always a good idea to brush up on your skills with a ski or snowboard to regain your confidence for the 23-24 season.

You should store your RFID pass in a zippered pocket on the left side of your jacket or pants. Your pass must be separate from cell phones, bank cards, keys, and any aluminum products. Do not have more than one RFID card on you at any time, including RFID cards from other resorts. Be sure to check out our RFID FAQ Blog

Safety Tip: Never duck a rope.

Save big on your stay at the Black Bear Lodge with our limited-time $99 Nights offer. Book a Tuesday or Wednesday night stay throughout the season at the Black Bear Lodge for just $99. After a fun day on the slopes, enjoy a free Table 43.1 appetizer when you order an entree. This deal is only available through December 11 - book your room SOON!

Uphill Travel: Uphill travel is only available via designated uphill routes. These routes are not yet covered in snow meaning bootpacking is the only way up. Please, do not hike on non-designated uphill routes.

We are pumped to see you back at the mountain and excited for the fun-filled season ahead. Think Snow!

2:55 PM: Good Afternoon snow enthusiasts! What a day to be at the Bush! It's truly shaped up to be an excellent day on the slopes with partly cloudy skies and temps of low 30's at the base and upper 20's at the summit. Thanks to our grooming team, look forward to fresh corduroy on 13 of our 31 open trails! And it's here-the coveted Castlerock is open for hiking across from Heaven's Gate today from 11-3. This terrain is for advanced skiers and riders only. Take it slow until you know. There's a reason there's a "rock" in Castlerock. Thanks to 21 inches of snow since Monday, Ski Patrol has been opening trails left and right including a bunch of new trails on Gate House this morning. It's hard to believe that it's still November! Heaven's Gate runs 9 AM - 3:45pm and Gate House and Super Bravo spin 9-4 PM. The park at Mt. Ellen is open daily from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Parks Crew has setup 10 fun features for your freestyle delight. Please remember that tickets/passes are required, and all lift ticket, food, and rental/repair services are still only accessible at Lincoln Peak Base Area at this time. There is bathroom access on the lower floor of the lodge at Mt. Ellen.

The EVENING Lincoln Peak uphill travel route will be open 5-10 PM ONLY to the top of Gate House. See our website for our designated uphill travel route. Please note that uphill travel remains CLOSED for both Mt. Ellen and the Daytime Lincoln Peak route. Our mountain operations teams are preparing the mountains for winter and we ask that you please abide by our uphill policy. Curious what events are happening this winter? You can also still book lessons and camps ahead of time, and take care of the kiddosRentals too.
