Description: Chris Wren will discuss his recent book, "Those Turbulent Sons of Freedom: Ethan Allen's Green Mountain Boys and the American Revolution," as well as the nearly thirty years he spent as reporter, foreign correspondent, and editor for the New York Times. During his tenure at the Times, he headed its news bureaus in Moscow, Cairo, Beijing, Ottawa, and Johannesburg; covered the United Nations; and reported from the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East, China, Southeast Asia, Africa, South America, and Canada. Upon his retirement from the Times, he literally walked out of his office with a 50-lb pack on his back and continued walking from Manhattan up through New York and New England to his present home in Thetford, Vermont, a trek about which he wrote the book "Walking to Vermont" in 2006. He is presently a visiting lecturer at Dartmouth College, and has also taught at Princeton University.
