Skiing has always been a favorite winter pastime in Vermont, and the Burlington region offers many ski vacation opportunities. With the largest city in the state and the largest airport in the state, it's no wonder Burlington, VT is such a popular travel destination. Located on the east coast of Lake Champlain, Burlington is home to the University of Vermont, and the popular Church Street Market.

Many of the country's best skiers come from Vermont. A few notable Alpine Skiing Olympic Medalists from this region include William "Billy" Kidd, born in Burlington, Vermont and Barbara Cochran, born in Richmond, Vermont.
